Cursillo (pronounced cur-see-yo), meaning "little course" in Spanish, focuses on the teachings of Jesus Christ. The primary aim of the Cursillo Movement is to make Christ the central influence in society. While Cursillo is often referred to as a retreat, it emphasizes meaningful discussion and interaction among participants, distinguishing it from traditional retreats that focus primarily on solitude. Ultimately, Cursillo offers a unique experience of living within a vibrant Christian community.
The Cursillo weekend in the Diocese of Scranton begins Thursday evening and concludes Sunday evening. It is led by a team of priests, deacons, sisters, and lay leaders. During the weekend, candidates will explore how to deepen their piety, live out their faith in daily life, and cultivate spiritual growth.
The Cursillo weekend is just the beginning of a lifelong journey in faith and community. After this transformative experience, Cursillistas are invited to continue growing through regular gatherings and events hosted by the Scranton Cursillo community. These opportunities offer fellowship with fellow Cursillistas and those considering the Cursillo path. Each gathering provides encouragement, insight, and practical resources to help live out the grace and inspiration received during the weekend.
Your gift helps us deepen faith and grow Christian community through life-changing weekends, spiritual resources, and ongoing fellowship.
We’re truly grateful for your support—thank you for helping us share God’s love with others.
