Sponsor's Responsibilities - Walking with Your Candidate

Congratulations!

Palanca– A Gift of Prayer and Sacrifice

Bringing Your Candidate to the Weekend

God has entrusted you with a beautiful role—sponsoring a candidate for the upcoming Cursillo Weekend. Sponsorship is a meaningful commitment, and your support is essential to your candidate’s experience and growth. Below is a simple guide to help you fulfill your role with confidence and care.

Candidate Application

Bringing Your Candidate to the Weekend

Please arrange transportation to and from the weekend location.
We kindly ask that candidates not drive themselves. Drop-off is Thursday between 6:30–7:00 PM. After arrival, allow the team to greet and welcome your candidate—this time helps them settle in.

Palanca is a heartfelt offering of prayer and self-giving, not a gift or letter.
Bring your personal palanca for your candidate at drop-off; the team will collect it.
You may also send palanca to:

Closing Service – A Time to Celebrate

Post-Cursillo – Walking the Fourth Day Together

Palanca– A Gift of Prayer and Sacrifice

Plan to attend the Closing Service on Sunday at approximately 4:45 PM.
This is a special moment when our Cursillo community welcomes the new Cursillistas and hears their reflections on the weekend.

Please note: The final Mass is reserved for candidates and the team only.

Helping Your Candidate Prepare

Even though they’ll receive a packing list, a friendly reminder call goes a long way. Make sure they bring:

  • Toiletries
  • Comfortable clothing for the weekend
  • A less casual outfit for Sunday’s closing
  • Towels and any necessary medications

🛏️ Food, bedding, and blankets are all provided.

The suggested donation is $290, but remind your candidate that cost should never be a barrier.

Contributions are private and based on what is affordable.

Your role doesn’t end on Sunday. You are key to helping your candidate live out their faith in everyday life.

  • Be available to help start or join a Group Reunion with your candidate.

  • Walk alongside them for at least six months as they begin their "Fourth Day" journey.

  • After that time, they may remain in your group or find another community that best fits their needs.
