The most important thing with regards to the Cursillo is that everything be true to life and authentic. Here, it is not merely a question of saying things, but of living them.

Scranton Cursillo Weekends

What the Weekend is

The Cursillo weekend in the Diocese of Scranton begins Thursday evening and concludes Sunday evening. Throughout the weekend, participants—often referred to as candidates—gather in fellowship to hear talks, share reflections, and explore how to live as committed disciples of Jesus in their families, workplaces, and communities. Led by a team of laypeople and clergy who have previously experienced Cursillo, the weekend is structured yet relaxed, offering time for learning, laughter, and meaningful connection.

Talks & Discussions

Talks & Discussions

Talks & Discussions

You’ll hear a series of short talks (called "rollos") given by both lay leaders and clergy. These cover topics like grace, faith, sacraments, Christian action, and living in community. Each talk is followed by small group discussions to reflect and share.

Daily Mass, Reconciliation, and Eucharistic Adoration are key parts of the weekend. There's also plenty of personal time for quiet reflection and prayer.

You’ll form lasting friendships with people who are on a similar journey. There’s laughter, singing, shared meals, and a deep sense of community that forms throughout the weekend.

Who Can Attend a Cursillo Weekend

Cursillo is open to Catholic adults seeking a deeper relationship with Christ and a renewed sense of purpose in their faith journey.

The weekend is ideal for:

Practicing Catholics who want to strengthen their faith and become more active in their parish or community.
Men and women from all walks of life—whether you're single, married, young adult, or retired.

Those feeling spiritually stuck or looking for a fresh encounter with God.

Anyone ready to grow in prayer, community, and service.

No prior experience or special knowledge is needed—just a willingness to listen, reflect, and be open to God’s grace.

If you're searching for something more in your faith life, the Cursillo Weekend might be exactly what you're looking for.
